The Fool Card

Sonia Parker
The Fool Card is the card with no number or the number zero, he can be nothing and yet everything all at the same time. We all start our journey as the innocent Fool. Below are the tarot decks that are my favourites and the ones I use on a regular basis, under those I will give my interpretation of The Fool and the symbolism, also the meaning when paired with other suits during a reading.
|
Rider Waite Tarot Deck
|
The Rider Waite deck is the most famous and most popular tarot deck.
Here we see The Fool standing on the edge of the cliff, ready to start a new journey with only a few material possessions. He has no worries and he has no fear. I have added a link to purchase the cards at amazon opposite |
Tarot Illuminati Deck
|
My favourite deck!! Brought for me by my son for Mother's Day. I absolutely love the bright colours, the symbolism and the positivity in this deck. It is luxurious and full of details. Exactly the same image and symbolism as The Rider Waite pack but with lots more colour. I have added a link to purchase the cards at amazon opposite |
Cosmic Tarot Deck
Sharman Caselli Tarot Deck
The Druid Craft Tarot Deck
Fairy Tarot Cards
|
The Fairy Cards are by Doreen Virtue, I have done her Fairy course and the cards are lovely. In this deck The Fool is called The Dreamer.
In effect the meaning is the same, the symbolism is slightly different. I have included a link to purchase the cards at amazon opposite |
The very first card in the deck and yet The Fool can happily slip in at any point during our journey through life. My interpretation of the cards is that The Fool journeys through all the major cards of the tarot. We all start our journey being innocent and without a care in the world, we have no worries, no fear and nothing can hold us back.
The symbolism in almost all of the decks is of a young man standing on the edge of the cliff, not taking any notice of what is in front of him, he has no fear, he is not going to listen to anyone but is going to do his thing, the small dog is trying so hard to get his attention. The parcel on his back speaks of new beginnings and new journeys. There are snow capped mountains in the distance and yet the sun is shining so brightly, he has the free-will and power to move mountains. In his hand he holds a white rose, the symbol of purity and innocence.
It is a card of destiny, as though our path has already been written for us. A gift from the spirit world for a new adventure or new opportunity, quite often one that will take us outside of our comfort zone. When The Fool appears in a reading trust that the opportunity has been given by spirit, it is a time to take that leap of faith. Do not be restrained by material possessions and the physical reality of life, do not listen to others, this is your journey and yours alone, go live your dreams.
If The Fool is paired with the suit of pentacles a new job opportunity is on its way, depending on the number of pentacles will depend on the outcome. It will be something out of your comfort zone and something completely new to you.
If The Fool is paired with the suit of wands, again depending on the number it could be a golden opportunity for you to realize your hidden talents and make them work for you, or it could be a warning that you are about to get burnt!
If The Fool is paired with the suit of swords a new way of thinking for you. It means you are ready to leave an old situation behind you once and for all.
If The Fool is paired with the suit of cups it signifies a new relationship is on its way, this will be with someone that you would not normally be attracted to. It also could mean a long-distance relationship. Again this relationship has spirits blessing and lots will be learnt from this person.
This is a very generic meaning for The Fool and when you are doing a reading go with your gut instinct depending on the cards that surround it. The Fool, like the Aces in the tarot, over ride other cards in the general layout. Remember it is a card of destiny and a card with spirits blessings.
