What Mum Gave Me ~ Doris Webb 1922 - 2014 ~ by Sonia Parker
You gave me love, you made me strong
You were always there when I did wrong Now all I can do is sit and cry Why did you go, why did you die? The house is quiet, the house is still I feel your presence, I always will The seeds you planted in your life A fantastic mother, a devoted wife You had 9 kids but was mum to more Never once did you close your door You gave more than most would do But you never gave a thing to you The stories you told will still live on The witch that chased you around the pond Up in nannies room behind the clock Was old Dick Reed, knock knock knock By far the greatest story of all Was how Dad escaped as prisoner of war Your Arnhem hero, and he is ours too His memory lived on because of you Now reunited with the man you love Watching us from up above Now what's left behind is your family Full of joy and love, how lucky are we If only I could have just one more day To hear your laugh, or hear you say Oh dear dear, or I cannot see Mum you mean the world to me Now safe with the angels, they hold you tight They help me through each long dark night Until one day we meet again Who knows where, who knows when This is not goodbye, for it will never be Because you live on inside of me You are here in me, in all that I do I am who I am because of you We all love and miss you, God Bless Mum xx |
